Overview
The 2025 National Employee Owner Summit (September 11-12) in Chicago/Downers
Grove, held only 3 weeks before Employee Ownership Month, is the perfect opportunity
to give your company culture and education a boost!

The National Employee-Owner Summit – staffed by the Ohio Employee Ownership
Center and co-sponsored by the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) – is
the original off-site training program where employee-owners learn from and interact
with their peers from other ESOP companies.

Over two days—through small groups, structured exercises, and informal
discussions—participants develop new skills, fresh ideas, and a deeper understanding
of employee ownership to bring back to their companies just in time for Employee
Ownership Month.

Not Your Typical ESOP Event
Unlike typical events, the two-day Summit is capped at 40 participants and consists of
high-engagement activities such as mini-forums, presentations, teamwork exercises,
and interactive games. Attendees will emerge with a better understanding of what an
ESOP is, how they benefit from being a participant in one, and best practices on
building an ownership culture that they can bring back to their respective companies.
Summit components include:

  • Ownership Communication Forum & Knowledge Sharing – discussing
    common challenges, and solutions, regarding building an ownership culture
  • ABCs of ESOPs – A deep dive into how ESOPs operate and generate wealth for
    employee owners
  • The ESOP Game – run a fictional ESOP company for 3 years and track its
    performance
  • Understanding Financial Information & Impacting the Bottom Line – series
    of presentations and short exercises to better understand basic financial
    information and how it impacts the company and its stock price
  • Team Problem Solving Skills – small group exercises where participants
    develop solutions and action plans to common issues at ESOP companies.

These activities are designed to send employee-owners back energized and ready to
lead your Employee Ownership Month celebrations.

With Employee Ownership Month coming in October, the Summit is a great opportunity
for your company to reinforce ownership values. Participants leave the Summit ready to
lead celebrations, share their education, and champion your ESOP culture!

The program is designed primarily for hourly and salaried non-managerial employees
and provides them with an opportunity to learn with and from their peers. Typically,
attendees come from outstanding ESOP companies where developing a culture of
ownership is considered an important aspect of corporate success.
