2019 Indiana ESOP of the Year Nominations

The “ESOP Company of the Year” is a company that has a commitment to employee ownership, as evidenced by its:

1. involvement with The ESOP Association and its programs;
2. communications with employees; and,
3. commitment to the Vision of The ESOP Association that endorses employee participation, wealth creation, and individual dignity and worth.

The company should be financially solvent and should have had more than two (2) years of sponsoring an ESOP. It is not necessary that the company have any one style of
management, such as “work teams”, “TQM”, “employee committees”, etc.; but, overall, there is an understanding that, by some manner, the majority of employees feel a sense of ownership, and/or that the ESOP is important to the company and all individuals in the company.

SUGGESTIONS TO CONSIDER WHEN YOU WRITE YOUR NOMINATION LETTER FOR THE INDIANA CHAPTER OF THE ESOP ASSOCIATION’S 2019 ESOP COMPANY OF THE YEAR

This award will be presented to an ESOP Company for its demonstrated commitment to employee ownership and its success in maximizing the benefits of the ESOP. Below is a list of questions which might be helpful to consider when preparing your nomination:

1. How long has the company been an ESOP; how many employees are participants in the ESOP?
2. What are the company’s core values?
3. Does the company have any ESOP Committee, i.e., Communication or Administration?
4. How does the company communicate the ESOP and its benefits to its employee owners?
5. Does the company participate in Employee Ownership Month?
6. What type of other internal ESOP activities does the company have?
7. Is the company involved in any government relations activities to promote employee ownership and their ESOP to elected officials?
8. Is the company active in the Indiana Chapter or at the National level of The ESOP Association?
9. What does the company do to promote the ESOP concept to the general community where it is located?

Please submit a 1 to 3 page letter explaining why your company should be selected as the Indiana Chapter’s 2019 “ESOP Company of the Year.” PLEASE SUBMIT A WRITTEN EXPLANATION (GRAPHICS AND I OR PHOTOS CONTAINED WITHIN THE TEXT ARE ACCEPTABLE) BUT DO NOT EXCEED THREE (3) PAGES.
